Danelle Umstead gets eliminated after making history as first blind entrant

Danelle Umstead made Dancing With The Stars history as the show’s first ever blind contestant, but was eliminated on Tuesday from the ABC dancing competition show.

The 46-year-old paralympian scored 19 points, beating fan favorite ‘Grocery Joe’ in judges’ votes, but not making the cut overall during Las Vegas Night.

‘It’s been fun, it’s really been amazing,’ said the American Alpine skier tearfully as she left.

Her final dance was a quickstep with Artem Chigvintsev with musical accompaniment from crooner Donny Osmond.

‘Fluid, graceful and elegant,’ said Carrie Ann Inaba.

Her performance was part of Las Vegas Night, which paid homage to the victims and survivors of the Oct. 1, 2017 mass shooting that killed 58 people and wounded 851.

‘We are aware that last night marked the one year anniversary of the tragedy in Las Vegas, the spirit of that incredible city lives on through the people of Las Vegas, we do this show with you foremost in our minds and hearts,’ said host Tom Bergeron, 63.
